DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

We could tell you that its important to us to create drought tolerant and responsible landscapes, create deep connections between nature and the humans that inhabit the space, that everyday our firm is trying harder to understand our responsibility to our ecological footprint and respond in our designs thoughtfully. All of which is true. But we also understand that for people to care about the crafted environment surrounding their home, we must draw them outside their four walls. So our philosophy boils down to creating an emphasis on FUN. Creating a reason to get outside and spend time in your yard. Cannonballs into the pool, embellished stories around the firepit, fish tacos cooked on the grill, children creating hidden spaces in the deep brush. Creating moments to take part in the movement and growth of their garden. We’ll meet you outside.

ABOUT MAX

Studying courses in plant identification and botany around San Diego led to an intensive 5-year degree in Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, one of the world’s top landscape architecture programs. Since graduating Max has worked with celebrated and award-winning residential and commercial landscape architecture firms. In 2015 Max Vedder Land Design opened it’s doors. Max Vedder Land Design has created outdoor spaces throughout California and beyond. From the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, the Central Coast, and most extensively in San Diego. Max loves San Diego for its music scene, surf, and it’s alluring landscape and historic architecture. He has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Australia, and Japan. His travels are a constant source of inspiration for combining international design styles with California attitude. He currently lives in Oceanside with his wife and their jungle cat “Bruno”.
